Birth control products are used for preventing pregnancy. The side effects and advantages of different types of birth control are different depending on the person consuming it. Sexually transmitted diseases cannot be prevented by several types of birth control. There are many types of birth control available in the market. Some of the common types of birth control available for women are birth control pills, implants, cervical cap, diaphragms, female condoms, IUD. The different methods for birth control are:
1. Natural methods which are also known as periodic abstinence refrains women from sex when she is fertile. There are no requirements of drugs and internal devices.
2. Barrier method is the traditional methods for controlling the birth. The barrier methods include the use of cervical cap, diaphragm, and the lea’s shield. For preventing sexually transmitted disease female condoms are also in use.
3. Hormonal contraceptives such as pills include the combination of oral contraceptives and the estrogen free pill.
4. Long term birth control includes the use of IUD which is normally recommended by gynecologists.
5. Use of condoms by men prevents pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Vasectomy surgery is the only option for men who don’t want children. |
