The chemical name for ethynodiol diacetate is 19-nor-17alpha-pregn-4-en-20-yne-3beta, 17-diol diacetate. The chemical name of ethinyl estradiol it is 19-nor- 17alpha-pregna-1, 3, 5 (10)-trien-20-yne-3, 17-diol. Each tablet of Demulen 30 21 contains 2 mg ethynodiol diacetate and 0.03 mg ethinyl estradiol.
Demulen-30 21 is a medication that the doctor prescribes when a patient is wanting to prevent pregnancy. This medication is also known as an oral contraceptive and has both progestin and estrogen in it. Patients should not stop taking Demulen-30 without the doctor knowing about it as it could cause the patient to have severe side effects plus they could have an increased risk of becoming pregnant.
Demulen-30 21 should be taken as directed by the doctor. This oral contraceptive comes in packs of 21 tablets. Your doctor may direct you to take the pill at the first day of your menstrual period and every day from then onwards.
