Condoms are usually worn on a man’s penis which blocks the ejaculated semen from entering the women’s vagina. Female condoms are also available which are made of polyurethane and are costlier compared to male condoms. If condoms are used perfectly and consistently then it can prevent pregnancy and is 97% effective. That means that if a condom is used properly and always during sexual intercourse then there are maximum chances that STD’s would not spread. Condoms are also an effective form of contraceptive in order to prevent pregnancy. The pores in the latex condoms are very small for the semen to pass through them. Using condom properly can lessen the risk of cervical cancer for women. The disease is linked with HPV. Condoms can be ineffective because of their improper use, using expired dated condoms or due to the lack of knowledge of using them. Condoms are the most common form of contraceptive methods used these days which are typically easy to use, cheaper, have no side effects and have many more advantages.
