 One contains a combination of synthetic forms of sexual hormone like estrogen and progesterone and some pills have progesterone content only. Studies have found that drugs having the combination as ingredient is more harmful for women with high blood pressure compared to the drugs having progesterone content only. However, before taking the birth control pills you need to consult your doctor and keep the following tips in mind. The instances of increase in blood pressure after taking birth control pills are case specific too. If you are above 35 years of age and have a high blood pressure history, check your blood pressure before taking the birth control pills. These pills can raise your blood pressure.

If your current blood pressure is normal, you can take these pills. The risk of hypertension related to birth control pills is higher. Along with, hypertension and smoking are related directly. Hence, if you are addicted to smoking use birth control pills only with proper medical advice.
