Is the IUD an effective form of birth control?

The IDU is one of the most effective methods for birth control. It reduces the chances of you getting pregnant after having an intercourse to almost negligible. The effectiveness is guaranteed if the IUD is inserted properly into the uterus. It is very effective compared to the other means of birth control methods.

The IUD prevents the ovulation of the eggs by a non hormonal process. The process involves the thinning the walls of the uterus and the fallopian tubes thereby restricting any ovulation chances. It is effective for almost ten years in many case but five to seven years of effective birth control is ensured by the IDU. The IDU is regarded as one of the safest methods to avert pregnancy. The IUD inserted is hanging from the uterus to the upper part of the vagina. One of the advantages of this birth control method is that it isn’t visible during the intercourse.

This is considered as an advantage, although is highly effective can fail in some cases. The IDU consist of strings which are considered the safeness quotient of the IDU. Most women check these strings from time to time to check whether they are fine. One can check it by touching it through the vagina. Alternate methods to check it would be using mirror or flashlight. A string missing is considered unsafe and the IDU need to be replaced.
