Ortho evra patch is safe to use for most of the women just like any birth control pills but this is when it is used only for short duration of time. Prolonged usage of ortho evra patch can lead to severe disorders and some of them are very dangerous. The ortho evra patch is worn for three weeks in a month and must be replaced every seven days. Only one patch must be worn at a time.
It helps in preventing pregnancy by transferring estrogen and progesterone hormone in the blood through the skin. Some of the minor side effects experienced with patch usage are: breast becoming tender, frequent headache, development t of rashes on the skin. But these disorders will clear off within two to three month time after the usage of patch has been stopped. For women suffering from history of heart disease must refrain from patch as it increases the chance of heart stroke.
Pregnant women, women suffering from breast cancer or those smoking cigarette must not use patch. Prolonged usage of patch is not at all safe as it gives rise to problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and overweight. It also results in blood clot formation in vital organs of the body such as heart, lungs and brain.
