How Safe is Essure?

There is debate about rather Essure is safe or not but recent studies show that it is 100% safe. There is no cutting or burning of a woman’s internal organs. It is FDA approved and has been in use for over five years.  It is 98.8% effective and a follow up will be done 4 years after the procedure is completed. In clinical trials there have been zero pregnancies reported.  The actual procedure is 13 minutes long and typically a woman is up and going within 45 minutes after completion by a trained physician. No anesthesia is used, no operation, and no hormones, and most insurances cover this procedure. 

There are some small risks of Perforation, expulsion, and other unsatisfactory positioning of the micro-insert. There is also a small risk of pregnancy, and theoretical increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Other risks include plain, cramping, vaginal bleeding, and change of pattern in menstrual cycle as well as some nausea and vomiting, and a slight chance of fainting.
