How Safe is a Vaginal Ring?

The vaginal ring is considered really safe and easy to use there are some side effects that come with it.

Side Effects With The Vaginal Ring Include But Not Limited To:

- Nausea
- Headache
- Vaginal discharge
- weight gain
- Vaginal irritation
- irregular bleeding
- mood changes
- breast tenderness

Some medications might interfere with the vaginal ring such as migraine medications, and anti-seizure medications. There are also some herbal supplements that might interfere with the ring like St.John's Wort. If the side effects don't ease within a few hours the doctor should be notified.

The doctor should be notified right away when women experience these side effects because they are considered to be very dangerous side effects:

- chest pain
- severe abdominal pains
- severe headache
- shortness of breath
- eye problems
- numbness
- severe leg pain
- severe arm pain

When any of the side effects happen for the viginal ring then the doctor might either lower the dosage or switch to another medication.
