Are there any side effects using the IUD?

The IUD though considered as the safest and effective method of birth control also has some side effects associated with it. The IUD is very safe compared to other means of birth control. The IUD is preferred by most women who are seeking for some non hormonal methods to avert pregnancy. They are to be inserted only after conducting few test, if any problem arises the problem is to be addressed first and then the IUD is to be used as measure for birth control.

The test comprises of checking for pregnancy, breast examining, checking for STI, mostly full medical test are conducted before the insertion. One should strictly follow this test before the insertion of the IUD as this can cause severe problems. Women feel dizzy during the insertion. Also cramping is complaint during the insertion. Other side effects of the IUD include spotting might occur during the periods, irregular periods and in some cases the periods are sometimes missed.

With copper IUD one might experience heavy periods and severe cramps. The IUD can cause perforations in the wall of the uterus. Other instances where the IUD might fall out from the vagina this can be problematic. The plastic IUD which releases hormones most of the time can cause severe headaches, tenderness in the breast, nausea and also cause acne in some cases.
