Are There Side Effects with Birth Control Patches?

Use of birth control patches is considered a safe and secure way of controlling birth. Most of the young women face no or minimal side effects of this method of avoiding unwanted pregnancies. However, women who are addict to smoking and use this patch as the sole means of managing birth may experience some side effects. Such women may face irregular and abnormal menstrual bleeding. 

It is worth noticing that most of the side effects of this preventive measure are similar to the after-effects of taking birth control pills. These common symptoms are breast tenderness, mood swings, headaches and dizziness. Other possible side effects of birth control patches are minor and sometimes major skin rashes on the area of their application.  She may experience changes in her vision quality, especially after wearing lenses. In a few cases, such women find difficulties in adjusting the lens into their eyes.

They may also feel unusual menstrual cramps which may be characterized by extreme pain. Most of the above mentioned side effects are mild in form and tend to disappear within 2 -3 months. It is only in serious cases that women experience the development of clots in the blood which may result into heart strokes / attacks.
