Can birth control pills help with the symptoms associated with PMS?

Premenstrual syndrome or PMS occurs in women experiencing menstruation before two weeks of menses. There are a lot of symptoms for PMS but unhappiness, irritability and tension are very prominent.

Weight gain, back pain, constipation, depression, tiredness, hot flashes, fatigue, acne, mood swings muscle or joint pain, insomnia and breast tenderness are some of the other symptoms. Symptoms for PMS vary from women to women but once the menstrual flow begins the symptoms may vanish. Your doctor may advice you to take the birth control pills in order to ease your PMS symptoms, which is helpful for some women. But the pills can cause some side effects and it is not helpful for all women. Studies have claimed that pills with lower dose of estrogen are found to be effective with some women suffering from the PMS symptoms.

These contraceptive are yet not available in the market. Birth control pill may provide relief for the symptoms of PMS for some women. Significant improvements were noted regarding the symptoms for PMS in some women using the pills, studies revealed. Different birth control pills are available with different hormone levels, so after consulting your doctor you may take the best pill that suits for you.
