What Are Triphasic Birth Control Pills?

Birth control pill contains two active ingredients which include the synthetic version of the progesterone and estrogen. The synthetic version of progesterone is known as progestin. Based on the requirements of various women’s these birth control pills are made. As some of the women might need a type of hormone more compared to others, similarly some might be sensitive to some hormones.

The various mixtures of the constituents are used to manufacture a specific birth control pill for an individual. The triphasic pill like biphasic birth control pill is a type of a combination pill which has both the constituent progestin and the estrogen, but the ratio in which the constituent are present is varied to achieve birth control. Unlike the biphasic birth control pill the amount of estrogen remains the same what varies is the amount of progesterone. In the triphasic birth control pill the amount of progesterone remains the constant and the amount of estrogen is increased gradually. But there are pills where the amount of progesterone is also increased. It contains pills for 3 weeks having different combinations. This triphasic birth control tends to change the hormonal level once every week during the 21 days. Similar to the biphasic birth control pill the last seven pills are placebo pills which contain no hormones.
